Synopsis: Eunhyuk is taking Donghae on a secret trip - blindfolded!
I had to decide between Fish for the Fishy, Fishy for the Fish, and Fish for the Fish. D:
Fish for the Fishy
"Where are we?" Donghae asked, laughing and holding onto the car door as he balanced himself. He was blindfolded. He shut the door just as Eunhyuk walked around the car and took his hand.
"You'll see." He led him assertively for some distance, occasionally dropping misleading hints about their whereabouts. Donghae could tell that it was a crowded place by the amount of noise; people talking and footsteps all around. He couldn't tell if they were underground or aboveground, inside or outside, though. He tightened his hold on Eunhyuk's hand, and Eunhyuk squeezed his in response.
"Are we almost there?" he asked as Eunhyuk guided him up a step.
"Where are we?" Donghae laughed. Eunhyuk laughed too and slowly came to a halt.
"If I leave you here, will you promise not to peek or move?"
"How long will you be gone?"
A short pause. "Three minutes."
"Okay, I promise."
"Here, hold onto this post so you don't lose your balance and fall over." Because you really might, he thought.
"Okay, okay. Three minutes."
Eunhyuk left, and Donghae lazily wrapped an arm around the post. He really wanted to peek and see where he was, but he promised he wouldn't - and a promise he made to Eunhyuk was one that he kept, no matter what. It was a torturous three minutes for him, battling his curiosity with his devotion to Eunhyuk. When it seemed like he couldn't bear to wait any longer, Eunhyuk reappeared, teasingly asking if he'd peeked.
They held hands again and walked a short distance. He could tell by the way that Eunhyuk's body moved and the soft whoosh of air that he opened a door - and his suspicions were confirmed when he detected the subtle change in quality of air and sound. They were inside.
"Seriously, where are we?"
"Wait just a little longer."
Thirty seconds later, they stopped and Eunhyuk slowly untied his blindfold as Donghae bubbled with excitement. The blindfold fell away, and Donghae blinked a few times. It didn't take long for his eyes to adjust, because they were in a dark place, and after a few seconds he gasped. Before him was a huge glass window to an aquarium where fish from South America, colorful and vibrant, darted to and fro in their environment. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Wow," was all he could say. "Wow."
Eunhyuk laughed. "I brought you to the aquarium."
"No kidding..." he tore his eyes away from the fish to look at him. "This is great!"
Eunhyuk smiled. "I'm happy that you like it."
"I can't believe how beautiful they are," he said wonderingly, taking an extra step closer to the glass. "I wish I could swim with them."
"See what they look like from their own viewpoint? Yeah. Me too."
"I guess this is as good as it gets, huh..."
"Short of diving, I think so."
"We're lucky," Donghae said softly. "Really lucky that we can see this."
"Mm." Eunhyuk nodded, touching the glass with his fingertips.
They watched the fish for several minutes, taking in each individual beautiful intricacy available to their eyes. Then Donghae turned to Eunhyuk and hugged him. "Thank you for taking me here," he said.
"There's a lot more to see...including clown fish," Eunhyuk said, hugging him in return. "And you're welcome. I've actually wanted to bring you here for a long time."
"Thank you," he said again. Eunhyuk smiled and linked his fingers with Donghae's. "C'mon. Let's go explore."
"Okay." Donghae smiled. "How big is the aquarium?"
"It's really large. It'll take us a few hours to get through."
"Probably." They smiled at each other a few seconds. A few hours to get through it with you. They turned and walked, side-by-side, through the rest of the aquarium, meeting each new tank and display with as much enthusiasm as the last. At some point, Donghae laughed secretly: fish for your fishy, is it?
